A recent survey of mobile phone users in the UK has revealed that a staggering 74% of those questioned admitted to not backing up their contact list in their phone regularly, according to Lookout Mobile Security.
The survey also revealed that while six in ten respondents said that they were concerned about losing the contact details of their loved ones and other important numbers from their mobile, and a further 50% admitted that they were worried about the possibility of their phone being hacked, just four out of ten people admitted that they had set up a PIN or password for their phone and regularly downloaded security updates.
Meanwhile, only a third of users are concerned about the quality of the links they click on whilst their on the internet on their phone, or the quality of the apps they download and use, with a further 20% admitting that using unsecured Wi-Fi connections to access the internet from their phone did cause them some worry.
However, what's really interesting about this survey, is that 46% of the respondents, which is more than two in five of those surveyed, admitted that they considered their smartphone to be their most important and valuable gadget, ranking them more valuable than MP3 players, eReaders such as Kindles, their laptop, and in some cases, even their car. However, what is even more surprising is that 34% of people admitted that they check their phone everytime that they go to the toilet.
While this survey may have come up with a few unexpected results, it highlights how much emphasis UK consumers are putting on their mobile phones, which means that they can only get more popular in the years to come.
